Multiple projects. Gehry-designed addition and renovation to the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art and Design. Addition included large atrium surrounded by new gallery, college, support space. Renovation included upgrading existing galleries and college areas throughout the existing building. The addition and renovation did not proceed beyond the construction document phase.
A later project involved the replacement of the original glass roof of the Ernest Flagg building, built in 1897. Work included removal of the original glass and steel structure and replacement with a modern glass roof incorporating thermal glass units and fritting to optimize the use of sunlight in the affected galleries. HVAC systems were upgraded, as well.

Stranix Associates Role: Provided design and construction consulting services to the Corcoran Gallery of Art relative to the development of their world class addition and renovation project. Work included program development and validation, design review, interaction with District of Columbia and U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, oversight of the design and budgeting process, and completion of design through construction documents. Stranix Associates also managed the design and construction of the Ernest Flagg Building roof replacement.
